ECO CONCRETE PRODUCTS:
Concrete is a very versatile and stable building material. For this reason, it is the second most widely used resource in the world after water. Low carbon concrete (LCC) is an improvement on normal concrete.

Like normal concrete, you get the benefits of fire resistance, sound/noise insulation, thermal mass, ease of construction and availability. LCC, however, is much greener (environmentally friendly), stronger, more durable, lighter in colour and better looking than normal concrete.

LCC can last over twice as long in aggressive environments such as those found on farms or in marine environments.
At John Gannon concrete we use low carbon cement which utilizes waste from the steel industry known as ground granulated blastfurnace slag (GGBS) to replace 50% of traditional carbon intensive cement in our concrete products. As well as the reduction in CO2, low carbon concrete products have many technical and architectural benefits.

BAGGED AGGREGATES:

Gannon Concrete can provide an extensive range of bagged aggregates produced from top quality limestone quarries. 
Our bagged aggregates are delivered in handy tonne bags that are ideal for those home building and garden products. 
These bags can be stored neatly prior to use and are particularly convenient for small confined sites.

BLASTING ABRASIVES:

Glass blast media:

Gannon EcoBlast is an abrasive glass media produced for impact blast finishing applications. This
100% recycled crushed glass abrasive is especially suited for preparing a variety of surfaces for painting. 
Available in four grades to meet most general blast finishing/cleaning applications. 
Applications:
  • Removal of corrosion, concrete and paint from steelwork. 
  • Machinery and equipment renovation. 
  • Cleaning copper, brass, aluminium and stainless steel without any excessive profiling or surface damage. 
  • Cleaning of masonry, brick and stonework. 
  • Woodwork restoration. 

Safety & environment:
  • Amorphous glass has no detectable crystalline silica therefore cannot cause silicosis. 
  • Safe to handle without gloves despite angular shape. 
  • Respiratory and eye protection should be worn along with protective clothing during application. 
  • Manufactured from 100% recycled glass otherwise destined for landfill. 
  • Chemically inert and non- toxic and therefore can be used near and around water. 
  • May be recycled after blasting applications depending on application.

WATER FILTRATION SAND:
Crushed glass filtration media:
 Gannon EcoPure is a 100% recycled glass filtration media intended for direct replacement of silica sand in industrial, commercial and domestic water and wastewater filtration systems. Gannon EcoPure is available in three grades that are suitable for use in both slow and rapid sand filtration systems, constructed wetland filtration  bases and domestic sand polishing filters. 

Features and benefits:
  • Glass filtration media has an angular to sub-angular particle shape which provides an improvement in turbidity of the final treated water or effluent when compared to silica sand. 
  • Finer particles can be removed from water than an equivalent silica sand grade. 
  • It is less susceptible to bio-fouling as, particles have a smoother surface, so bacteria cannot get trapped in any cracks or flaws, which means less remedial action and less chemical treatment to destroy pollutants. 
  • Reduced filter clogging leads to reduced backwash frequency. 
  • Weak negative surface charge holds fine particles and positively charged iron and manganese ions that are easily released upon backwashing. 
  • Glass filtration media is not prone to degradation and therefore has a longer lifespan than silica sand and  may not need changing even when the filter is due for refurbishment. 
  • Glass filtration media is an ideal filtration base material for constructed wetlands.
